How do I review the Qur'an with my child without boredom?

The question

Regarding reviewing what has been memorized — should I review with him every day? And when he needs a reminder of the beginnings of the verses, do I consider that he has memorized and move to the next surah?

Because I feel he has grown bored of repeating only al-Fatihah, and I tell him: when you memorize this surah I'll bring you such-and-such — and months pass and we're still in our place.

Our answer

The memorization process at this age moves through advance and review. That is: we begin with Surat an-Nas, repeating it until he masters it. On the second day, Surat al-Falaq. Then after he completes it, we review the two surahs together, and we don't move on until we have fixed them together. Then we move to Surat al-Ikhlas, and so on. When we finish al-Ikhlas, we go back to review the three surahs together.

Progress steadily until you finish with him at Surat an-Naba'. From there, Allah will open the way for your little one, by His leave.
