The question
Regarding tarbiyah, especially for children six and seven years old — I'm their teacher. What are the most important things to plant in them at this age? And by the nature of this age, what attracts them most and pushes them to apply it?
Our answer
May Allah preserve you and bless you. At this stage, focus strongly on the following axes:
* Establishing the creed and the correct understanding of it.
* Establishing knowledge of the Prophet ﷺ, his Sunnah, and his sirah.
* Strengthening the students' relationship with the Magnificent Qur'an, the mushafs, and the tafsir.
* Strengthening their relationship with role models and the stories of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them).
* Care for manners and discipline through the Qur'an, the Sunnah, and the sirahs.
* Be keen on their high aspiration and direct them to actions that strengthen their manhood: not mixing with girls, dutifulness to parents, removing harm from the road, going to the masjid, being keen to keep away from things that mar honor — and so on. Occupy them with what can strengthen their hearts and their manhood, and you will see much good, by Allah's leave.
